What to wear??

What to Wear for Your Family Portrait Session

Are you not sure what to wear for your session, then this information might help you. I am so excited that you’re going to have great portraits of your family hanging in your home, the right clothing will make the photos memorable and stunning. Here are some thoughts on a few general tips about what to wear for your family portrait session.

Things to Watch Out for:

  • Large words or large logos

  • Obvious trends

  • Guys – don’t where dark pants with white socks

  • Ladies avoid horizontal stripes.

  • Avoid popular trends – these can easily date your photos

  • Large prints like Hawaiian prints

  • Thin pinstripes

Ideas on things that can help:

  • Ladies – V neck/ scoop necklines and dark colors can be slimming.  Long sleeves or 3/4 sleeves look good.

  • Coordinate and/or complement (not “matchy” {if that is a real word}) Pick a few color pops to coordinate between all subjects… Chose colors that blend together.  Most likely you and your family do not all dress alike so there is no need to for your portraits.

  • Let’s chat before having the actual family portrait photo session if you have any questions or thoughts about wardrobe.

  • Wear what you’re comfortable in! Adding a colorful necklace or scarf to help connect the colors that you wear.

A final note…. be yourselves during your session, there is nothing better than your true personalities and smiles shining through.
